Counselling & Psychotherapy with Oxford Health Psychotherapy Services (OHPS)

"Every life has a measure of sorrow. Sometimes it is this that awakens us"
~ Budda's Little Instruction Book
Oxford Health Psychotherapy Services (OHPS) provide high quality, affordable, safe, professional and confidential Psychotherapy and Counselling Services to Individuals, Couples, Families and Groups in Oxford. We primarily provide face to face therapy but also offer therapy online via Skype or by telephone to help you find relief from emotional conflict.

We work with adult individuals, couples, groups and older adults to help them ask important questions, explore emotions without judgement, and achieve a deeper understanding of themselves, their experiences, and their relationships. You may be dealing with deep emotional pain, past traumas, hurtful or unhealthy relationships/family dynamics, trying to find your passion and calling or depression or anxiety -- or going through a stressful time in need of support. Within a collaborative and supportive approach, clients can begin to notice and change current patterns of thoughts and behaviour. We also help clients to examine core beliefs and attitudes that shape who they are and how they react, in order to create lasting transformation.

We also provide In-Home Counselling services to older adults who must be 65 years of age or older. Special consideration is given to frail, high-risk, home-bound, and/or socially isolated elders who may not be able to acquire mental health services through more conventional means. At this time, we are only able to provide in-home services to Central Oxford. For those older adults who are able to come to our Oxford office, the same counselling services are available on-site. Counselling services for the elderly are provided by a licensed therapist, trained in geriatric mental health, grief, and crisis intervention.

Our Approach

We specialise in counselling & psychotherapy. Our friendly  experienced psychotherapist & counsellor  offer a range of approaches that draws on techniques from cognitive & behavioural therapy, person centred counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and solution focused brief therapy. Our theoretical orientation is integrative, with appropriate interventions chosen for each client and issue.  Different models help different people as we are all unique. Therefore, the therapy we provide is tailored to the unique needs, aims and concerns of each individual client. We also collaborate, when clinically indicated and with consent, with other mental health professionals to coordinate care.

We provide both short and long-term counselling, working over a few weeks or several months, depending on your individual needs and wishes. We offer regular reviews to ensure that we are meeting your individual needs. We realise that the prospect of psychotherapy; talking about your troubles, past and current experiences can be daunting. To help, we try to provide a warm and welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable and safe. We are committed to providing counselling, and psychotherapy, in a safe, non-judgmental, confidential environment from where you can talk about anything you want, however difficult.

Whatever it is that is on your mind, we are here to help you.
